Schools Showcase LGBT Inclusive Education in the Scottish Parliament

This month we held an event in The Scottish Parliament to showcase the impact of LGBT Inclusive Education for MSPs. The event was hosted by Paul O’Kane MSP and was presented by pupils and teachers from Stenhousemuir Primary School and Castleton Primary School.

The pupils shared insight into the impact that LGBT Inclusive Education has had in their schools with MSPs, and spoke about the significance of learning about LGBT people and history, as well as seeing diverse representation in their school’s curriculum.

Castleton Primary School became the first school in Scotland to receive certification for completing the first part of the free Delivering LGBT Inclusive Implementation and Evaluation Toolkit, a national resource designed to help schools with this work.

Below are some of the pupils’ own words following their school’s implementation of LGBT Inclusive Education:

There is a national expectation that schools in Scotland are implementing LGBT Inclusive Education. To get started, visit the national platform lgbteducation.scot where you can access information about free professional learning, the Delivering LGBT Inclusive Implementation and Evaluation Toolkit, teaching resources and guidance.
