The Teachers’ Gathering provides teachers who are interested in LGBT Inclusive Education the opportunity to contribute to the continued implementation of this work in Scotland. The event allows teachers the chance to network with other professionals, see examples of practice currently being taught in the classroom and, through interactive workshops and collaborative working, consider how they can apply this work to their own setting.
Teachers’ Gathering 2023
This month we successfully hosted our second annual Teachers’ Gathering. Over 40 early years, primary and secondary practitioners from across Scotland joined us in Glasgow for a day of showcasing, discussion and networking in the field of LGBT Inclusive Education.
The day began with an LGBT Inclusive Education Showcase from our Programmes and Delivery Officers, as well as teachers from Castleton Primary School, Anderston Primary School, Dunblane High School and Prestwick Academy. This session allowed teachers to share their experiences of LGBT Inclusive Education, including using Our Resources in their own classrooms. This was followed by a networking session to allow all attendees the chance to meet and create professional connections. The third session brought teachers together to work collaboratively through exercises that used the LGBT Learning Themes to consider how they may include these in their classroom.
