Teachers’ Gathering 2024
We recently held our third annual Teachers’ Gathering. We hosted early years, primary and secondary practitioners from across Scotland to learn more about the national approach to LGBT Inclusive Education.
There are lots of passionate educators who are keen to collaborate and develop powerful curricular resources. There are [so] many ways of weaving LGBT inclusive education across subjects in a meaningful way.”
Teachers from across Scotland presented their individual approaches to introducing LGBT Inclusive Education in their settings through showcase sessions, allowing other attendees to explore how these teachers have chosen to embed the LGBT Inclusive Education Learning Themes within their curriculum naturally. These case studies were presented by teachers with a range of subject specialisms, including Drama, Mathematics, Social Studies, Art and Design, and English.

There was also the opportunity for attendees to network with each other to discuss ideas and learn from colleagues, as well as separate bespoke sessions for primary and secondary teachers. For secondary, our workshops offered teachers the opportunity to audit their own curriculum and practice alongside colleagues, as well as collaborate on resource creation. Primary teachers were introduced to the use of books for LGBT Inclusive Education, particularly in STEM and Social Studies.
The event is well organised and run. The format of the day works well and the showcase section is incredibly helpful. The afternoon workshops were very helpful and enjoyable.”
