It can sometimes be a difficult conversation to have and I can imagine that it can’t be easy delivering to a group of teenagers within a school setting however, the tone in which everything was delivered made a world of difference and I think that is why the group were so engaging and got the most out of the session.

Staff feedback for our Stage 2 training was very positive. The consensus was that most teachers felt better informed and knew how to start to make concrete steps towards embedding inclusive education themes within their own curricular area.
The Toolkit has also been invaluable for keeping us on track as a school and knowing what our next steps are at each stage of our journey.
We have also had TIE out to do year-group assemblies, which have had a hugely positive impact in the school. We have both seen a greater understanding across the school regarding the impacts of prejudiced language on all people. Additionally, following the assembly, we saw a significant uptick in pupils approaching their Pupil Support teacher, or other trusted adult, to seek support. These pupils may have flown under the radar for years without seeking support, and because of the amazing assembly from TIE, they felt empowered to do so.

“Support has exceeded our expectations.”
We have a passionate and motivated group of staff and pupils driving forward inclusive education at our school. The toolkit provided us with a way to plan and evaluate our priorities this year, and we were delighted to successfully complete the first stage of the toolkit.
The Stage 1 and Stage 2 training for staff has been excellent. Colleagues have been very positive about the quality and impact of the training, and from our recent survey, we know that staff feel confident about their role in providing inclusive education and where to find resources.
Having TIE deliver S1-6 assemblies on the use of prejudice-based language and the impact of bullying has been extremely valuable for our pupils. Pupils responded well to the personal experiences that were shared and the feedback received from pupils has been fantastic.
Overall, we can’t speak highly enough of our experience of working with TIE. The quality of their resources, training and support has exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to working with them as we continue our inclusive education journey.

“I have been thoroughly impressed.”
I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the workshops which TIE delivered in our school. The trainers were knowledgeable, approachable and well-trained. It was particularly impressive as they were delivering workshops across the school from Primary 6 through to Senior VI.
The tone, content and pace of the workshops was expertly pitched to ensure learners were engaged and involved throughout the whole workshop. Feedback from the pupils was that they had enjoyed the workshop and had learned a great deal.
The trainers were open to questions and helped the pupils gain a real understanding of the issues surrounding equality, diversity, prejudice and discrimination. This allowed our Guidance staff to further explore the issues that were raised in the workshops in later weeks during PSE. I was very impressed with the way the trainer pitched the tone of the workshops to the younger years, not an easy task, but the staff all praised her professionalism and content of the workshops.
We found dealing with TIE from the moment I contacted them to the delivery of the workshops to be efficient, helpful and useful. As a pastoral depute, I have dealt with numerous agencies and I was very impressed with how easy they made it to book, organise and arrange the workshops – thank you!
We also found that the TIE workshops helped our school progress on our journey to being awarded Silver – Rights Aware Status for the UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award as this was excellent evidence of how as a community we were actively promoting inclusion and diversity across the school.
I have been thoroughly impressed with every aspect of our engagement with TIE and am very grateful that we were able to participate. The feedback from the workshops was also immensely useful to quantify understanding. Thank you very much, we will absolutely be engaging TIE again.
