Description

This resource contains a unit on verbatim theatre practices. Using Tectonic Theater’s ‘The Laramie Project’ as a starting point, it introduces learners to the concept of verbatim theatre, its origins, and how it has developed over time.

‘The Laramie Project’ is a verbatim community response to the murder of Matthew Shepard who was living in Laramie, Wyoming. This unit allows learners to understand the real-life impact of prejudice and consider social issues they are interested in by creating their own verbatim theatre productions. This unit also explores verbatim theatre about the Grenfell Tower fire, the repeal of Section 28, and further examples of theatre engaging with social impact topics.
